Our beloved Diem Ryley Mueller left us on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the unripe young age of 14. Though their time was cut short, their impact on this world will far outlast everyone who is alive today. Diem exemplified acceptance and authenticity. While a student at Taylor High School, Diem inspired countless others with their strength, determination, confidence, resilience, and, most of all, kindness. They were and still are deeply loved by parents Don and Eryka Mueller; siblings Ava and Jakob; as well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; namely, Amanda, Jean, Wren, Avery, Kimber, and Carson.
Diem was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 10, 2010 where they lived until moving to North Bend, Ohio in 2011. Growing up, Diem earned countless nicknames including Dievel Knievel for their barefoot daredevil feats on a Winnie the Pooh ride-on toy and DiCasso for their artistic aptitude. When Diem wasn’t drawing or driving recklessly, you could find them crawling around on all fours wearing cat ears on their head and a toy stethoscope around their waist for a tail, meowing and licking their “paws.” Diem had many interests throughout their life including art, fishing club, and volleyball. Most recently, Diem enjoyed watching anime, eating snacks, and styling wigs. Petting cats and advocating for marginalized people have always been Diem’s passions.
There is something about Diem that no one can quite put a finger on. It’s a captivating uniqueness, something that connects to a person’s spirit and makes them fall in love with everything Diem is. Diem is truly one in a million. It is our hope that their spirit lives on in those who loved them, and continues to inspire the world.
On Monday, March 24, 2025 at The Woodlands Diem’s life will be honored with a service and food. Guests are encouraged to wear whatever they feel the most comfortable in, whatever makes them happy. From formal suits and ties to oversized hoodies and shorts, Diem would want you to express your true self, whatever that may be.
