John J. "Jack" Benter, 93, of Green Township, formerly of Addyston, died on May 17 ,2012, at Hospice of Cinti at Mercy Hospital.
He was a 45 year employee of the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company, Miami Fort Station, an Episcopalian, a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy during the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and ex-president of the Addyston VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Annabel R. ( nee Atkins) Benter, by his children John E. (Patricia) Benter and Kathleen A.(Thomas) Chatham, by his grandchildren Glenda K. (Roger) Elam, Michael (Melinda) Harris, Christopher Benter, Bradley (Cynthia) Benter, by his great-grandchildren Brooke Annabel Benter and Jake Logan Benter, and by his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy L. Benter, and by his siblings the late Lawrence, Fred (Ella) Joseph (Mary), Robert (Catherine), Bruce (Ethel), Ross (Katherine) & William (Dorothy) Benter, Catherine (Delmar) Beckemeyer and Elsie (Fritz) Osborn.
Visitation was Mon., May 21,2012, from 11AM until time of service at 1PM, at the Dennis George Funeral Home, 44 S. Miami Ave., Cleves, OH. Interment with military honors in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the VFW or to a charity of the donor's choice.
