Mildred Sara Hartman (Horning), 99, passed away peacefully at Bayley Place on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 surrounded by her family. 

Mildred (Millie) Hartman was born on July 17, 1925 in Randolph, Ohio to the late Stella and Oscar Horning. 

She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms High School in Akron, Ohio in 1943 and carried on her Catholic Faith throughout her lifetime as a member of Saint Jerome Church while living in Largo, Florida and attending Saint Joseph Church in North Bend, Ohio.

She was married to Glen Chapman Hartman in 1946 until his death in 1985. Millie was an Assistant Manager and top sales person for the men’s department at Polsky’s department store in Akron, Ohio in the 1960’s and a Cottage Parent with her husband at Waddell Village in Marion, Ohio in the 1980’s. Millie moved to Florida in the late 1980’s and recently returned to Ohio after living over 30 years in Florida.

Millie is survived by her two daughters, Charlote Elbe and son-in-law George of Largo, Florida; Bonita Hartman of Clearwater, Florida; two sons Kevan Hartman and daughter-in-law LuAnn of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Howard Hartman and daughter-in-law Pam of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Kay Darkow of Avon Lake, Ohio and Barbara Steinel of Kent, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her sister Helen Wingard and her brother Donald Horning.

She has four grandchildren, Max, Heidi, Ben, and Christopher and seven great grandchildren; Paxton, Reagan, Charlie, Alexander, Gus, Harper and Hazel as well as several nieces and nephews.

Millie loved escorting her grandchildren to their various golf, basketball, baseball, football, volleyball and soccer games. She was their #1 fan. 

She was a member of the Lifeline Ministry in Florida helping with the Margaret Mary Society that purchased, collected and sorted clothes for various groups in the area. 

In Florida she often entertained guests from “up north” at her beautiful condo. Her brother, sisters, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews enjoyed their visits with Millie in sunny Florida. She will be missed by all.

Visitation Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Bayley Place, 990 Bayley Place Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45233. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Bayley Place, c/o Dennis George Funeral Home, 44 S. Miami Ave., Cleves, OH 45002.
