Phillis J. Garber

May 31, 1933 — December 1, 2012

Phillis Jean Garber (Iles) May 31, 1933-December 1, 2012 Just before midnight, we had the privilege of holding our sweet Mom's hands while we prayed her from this life into the loving arms of our Lord. She was golden-inside and out. She leaves a legacy of love, compassion, grace and dignity to her children, Gail A. Baker (the late Randy), Charles E. Garber (Kim), Paula J. Quatkemeyer (Jeff) and Patrick D. Garber, grandchildren Christopher C. Baker (Carrie), Edward C. Quatkemeyer, Jamie R. Sheets (Albert), Brian P. Garber (Liz), Barron A. Quatkemeyer, Kathryn J. Quatkemeyer, Ross W. Garber and Lindsey M. Garber, and her \"little people\" great granddaughters Corinne & Cara Baker and Gracie & Carlie Sheets. She touched so many lives with her gentle spirit, great sense of humor, wise guidance, and her great capacity for loving kindness. Mom loved her place as big sister to Ronnie, Carl, Marilyn Kunkel, Martha Browning and the late Dennis and Billy Iles as well as daughter to Wm. Clifford and N. Maude (Mullens) Iles. She loved her many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors, and most recently her kind and gentle caregivers. Words can't express how much she is loved or how much she will be missed. We now have one more angel looking out for us, together forever with our Dad, Carl F. Garber, Jr. Rest easy, Mom. Active with school PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church and numerous community projects, Mom retired from the banking industry as a Vice President, working downtown Cincinnati for many years. She helped pave the way for women when inducted as the first female president of the Downtown Cincinnati Kiwanis Club. After retirement, she fulfilled her passion of sewing by working part time at Hancock Fabrics in Dent, always surrounded by a circle of friends, family and love. A celebration of life will be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 2145 Compton Rd., Mt. Healthy, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Officiating is Reverend Steven Rodgers. Contributions may be made to the Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails (FMCPT), P.O. Box 308, London, OH 43140. Your contribution will help complete the Overlook at the Wetlands in honor of our Randy Baker.
