Robert J. Horton, 94, a native of Miami Township, OH, & a former resident of Aurora, IN, died on Feb. 12 at Westlake Health Care Center in Westlake Village, CA.
He retired as a Sr. Vice Pres. of Union Central Life Insurance Co., was a graduate of Taylor High School, North Bend, OH & Hanover College & was a WWII veteran of the US Army & the US Navy. He was a member of Post #231 American Legion, Aurora, IN.
He is survived by his daughters Janice H. Boggs (Stephen) & Jerri A. Scheland (Barry), by his grandchildren Jeanne, Scott (Catherine) & Robert Boggs; Gregory (Jennifer) & Brett Scheland & great grandchildren William, Andrew & John Hayden Scheland & by many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Horton (nee Kraft), by his parents Chester & Lillian (nee Noppert) Horton & by siblings Charles, Cyril, William & Andrew Horton, Ann Jackson & Mary Jane Hoffman.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Sat., March 20, 2010 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, North Bend, OH. Inurnment following in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Taylor High School Academic Scholarship, c/o Randy Mecklenborg, 36 E. Harrison Ave., North Bend, OH 45052.
