Scott D. Humphrey (1950-2015) Scott, beloved son, brother and father, died on Saturday July 4, 2015 surrounded by his son and family. Scott was born on February 1, 1950 in Cincinnati. He attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and graduated from Kent State University in 1972. He was known for his vision and ability to make anything with wood. As a sculptor and luthier he created works of art out of the humblest of materials. Of the many instruments he built, a hurdy gurdy that he made was exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City (as it is now known). Scott taught at the School of the Creative and Performing Arts where he enjoyed encouraging his students' enthusiasm and passion for the arts. He was a dear friend and collaborator with many artists throughout the country and overseas. Scott was a dreamer and will be missed dearly. Scott is survived by his son Sven and his daughter-in-law Robyn, his father Norval and mother Elnora, his sisters Sandy, Anne, Nora and brother Guy. A private family memorial will be held later in the year.
